In her photo series “I Fought The Law,” Olivia Locher playfully captures some of the strangest laws in America. Each photograph depicts her breaking a bizarre law from a different state. These outdated or just plain odd regulations have either never been removed or seem completely absurd.

For example, there’s a law in California that prohibits riding a bike in a swimming pool. In Kansas, serving wine in teacups is against the law. And in Oregon, you’re banned from exercising while driving—was that really a common issue?

Some of these laws also offer a glimpse into the past. In Alabama, it’s illegal to carry an ice-cream cone in your back pocket, a trick once used by horse thieves. They’d lure horses away with the cone, technically not stealing the animal until it wandered off on its own.
