In a resurfaced 2020 interview, Justin Bieber expressed his desire to “protect” Billie Eilish from the music industry, especially in light of Diddy’s recent arrest.
At the time, Bieber was promoting his album and reflected on Eilish’s rise to fame. Having entered the music scene at just 15, he understands the pressures of early stardom. He has previously opened up about his own mental health challenges and even reached out to Eilish to offer her support.
During the Apple Music interview, which has gained attention online this week, Bieber said, “I just want to protect her. I don’t want her to experience what I went through. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.” He shared that his own journey was tough, describing a “dark” time when he was inundated with praise but felt isolated.
Bieber emphasized the difficulties of being so young in the industry, noting, “It was hard not knowing where to turn when everyone was telling me they loved me but could turn their back in an instant.” He assured Eilish, “If she ever needs me, I’m just a call away.”
Bieber’s connection with Diddy, who was recently arrested on serious charges, has resurfaced in the news. Diddy, real name Sean Combs, was taken into custody at the Park Hyatt hotel in Manhattan on September 16, facing charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
Diddy’s attorney, Aaron Dyer, clarified that neither the rapper nor his family has been arrested and that their travel remains unrestricted. Recently, Diddy was denied bail for a second time, even after his attorney proposed a $50 million bond for home detention with GPS monitoring.
