Melissa Jubane had recently enjoyed some of the happiest days of her life after marrying her fiancé, Bryan Llantero, on August 24th in Honolulu, Hawaii. However, after returning to the U.S., Melissa, a nurse at St. Vincent Hospital, failed to show up for her shift on September 4th.
Her absence alarmed her loved ones in Southwest Portland, prompting them to contact the Beaverton Police. A search for Melissa was soon launched.
According to KHON, the last contact Melissa had with Bryan was around 6 a.m. on the morning she missed her shift.
A statement from the Beaverton Police Department read: “Officers responded to Melissa’s residence at 1050 SW 160th Avenue, in Beaverton. Upon arrival, they were met by apartment staff and conducted a search of Melissa’s unit.
“Melissa was not found, and her lack of communication was considered highly unusual and alarming. Despite efforts by officers and family members, they were unable to reach her throughout the day, as her phone appeared to be off. Searches of her bank and credit card records yielded no new leads.”
On Friday, September 6th, Melissa’s remains were discovered by law enforcement after an extensive search.
In connection with her disappearance, police arrested her neighbor, Bryce Johnathan Schubert, 27, of Beaverton. The press release shared on Facebook stated: “Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that one of Melissa’s neighbors, Bryce Johnathan Schubert, was involved in her disappearance. He has been arrested and charged with her murder. Melissa Jubane’s remains have been recovered.”
The investigation remains active, with authorities withholding further details to protect its integrity. Police are urging anyone with information to call 503.526.2280.
