Parents Stunned After Receiving Call from ‘Son Dead for Six Months
When it comes to outrageous sibling rivalry stories, this one from New Zealand could be straight out of a soap opera.
However, Callum’s fake death wasn’t a TV plot twist—it was a cruel prank orchestrated by his sister for reasons that remain unclear.
In a 2023 TikTok clip, Callum called into New Zealand’s ZM Radio to share his bizarre tale with hosts Carl Fletcher, Vaughan Smith, and Hayley Sproull, leaving them in disbelief.
“My sisters were in a bit of a tiff with my parents, and they weren’t really getting along,” Callum explained.
At the time, he was living in Wellington, about 270 miles from his parents in Christchurch. Then, he revealed the shocking part: “My older sister called my parents and told them I had died.”
To make matters worse, she fabricated that Callum had been murdered and that his burial had already taken place. His devastated parents were told that they weren’t invited to the funeral by the parents of his ex-girlfriend.
Host Vaughan was left speechless, saying, “No offence, but your sister sounds like a top-level, red flag, crazy b**ch!”
One can only imagine the shock when Callum finally reached out to his parents—six months after they had been told he was dead.
When asked why he hadn’t contacted his parents in all that time, Callum admitted, “I was just busy with life and work, and then I realized I hadn’t heard from my parents in a while, so I gave them a call. My mum was in tears, and my dad was just like, ‘What the f**k is going on?’”
The hosts questioned why his parents believed the story so easily. Callum explained, “They were calling other family members to confirm, but when they didn’t hear anything different, they just assumed I had died.”
Vaughan summed it up: “This is the wildest phone call we’ve ever had.”
Callum noted that, understandably, his sister and parents are no longer on speaking terms.
